Born in Tacoma, Washington

Mandy grew up in a working-class neighborhood, the daughter of a steelworker and a nurse.

2000

Graduated from University of Washington

Earned her teaching certificate and began working as a public school teacher in Seattle.

2008

Elected to Seattle City Council

Ran a grassroots campaign focused on affordable housing and won against a well-funded incumbent.

2016

Elected to Congress

Represented Washington’s 7th district, championing housing, labor rights, and healthcare reform.

2026

Announced Run for President

Launched the Real Affordability Agenda: One Home. One Job. One Vote.

An avid hiker, Mandy spends weekends exploring the Pacific Northwest’s trails and mountains. She’s also a life-long Mariners fan and believes strongly that the designated hitter rule should be universal.
